Approve August Meeting Minutes

Connor moved that the organization approve the August Member Meeting Minutes.
The motion was adopted.

Update on Neighbor's Scaffolding

The scaffolding was removed three months later than promised but has been completely removed. Ross received a $1,000 donation from Christine, the building owner. We received a $1,000 donation when the scaffolding was initially set up. Hopefully, another $500 donation will be made as promised by the contractor. The land trust will return the security deposit to Christine. Thanks to these donations from Christine, the garden has gained a significant amount of funds.

Garden Chat Room Types

Connor wrote a guidelines document explaining what messages should go in each room. These guidelines make the different chat rooms more apparent and functional. These are only guidelines; no one will be penalized if they are broken.

Connor moved that the organization adopt the chat room policy as documented.
The motion was adopted.

Update on the Rat Proofing the Remaining Back Fence Project

Ross still needs people to help him with this project. He needs to dig up space in the back and put gravel and rebar down to pour the concrete. The concrete pouring would happen on a separate date. Green Guerillas might have gravel and dirt that could be ordered for this project. Ross will investigate.

September Live Music Series

There is a nice day already planned. Charles has the flyers as a PDF to hang in the garden and post on social media. Gina will double-check with the church to ensure people can access the bathrooms. We do not know what the weather will be like for this month’s event. We should make sure we put up umbrellas.  The promotion has already started. Set times for the event are still being finalized. Karl will get the permit for the amplified music. Set up between noon and 1:00 pm.

Gina moved that the organization spend $10 on water and $30 on food, for a total budget of $40, for the September music event.
The motion was adopted.

October Live Music Series

The music event is proposed to take place on Saturday, October 19th. Evan will not be in the city on the 19th, so someone else must pick up the pizza.

Gina moved that the organization hold October’s Live Music Series on Saturday, October 19th from 2:00 to 6:00 pm.
The motion was adopted.

Speaker Stands

Ross would like to get speaker stands so that the speakers are no longer set up on the floor. One speaker was dropped at the last meeting. Ross has a set of two in mind for $45.

Ross moved that the organization purchase two speaker stands for less than $50.
The motion was adopted.

Sweeping and Watering

As Al explains, we collectively need to do better as members with sweeping and watering before it gets too cold.

Bringing in Plants for the Winter

There are orchids that Rochelle and Liz are reviving. Someone will need to take them into their apartment during the winter. The aloe also needs to be brought in.

Folding Ladder

Ross thinks the garden could use a cheap folding ladder for trimming the trees and changing light bulbs. Liz says we should just borrow a ladder when we need it.

Ross moved that the organization purchase a folding ladder for less than $150. Ross moved to postpone the motion until the next meeting. The motion to postpone was adopted.

Rope Vines

Al wanted to check if one side of the vines needs to be adjusted. When the scaffolding was taken down, parts of the vine were damaged and needed to be repaired. Ross will look into fixing the vine in October. Ross proposes planting all new vines next year, especially some that produce tasty grapes. We will not be voting on this motion in today's meeting.

Ross’ Live Music Event

Ross would like to throw a music event for his brother on either October 5th or 6th. This event is up in the air, and Ross will update everyone on whether it will occur and on what date and time. If it does take place, Ross will get the food and the sound permit. All the rules for other events will apply to this event.

Ross moved that the organization approve the possibility of having an amplified live music event on either October 5th or 6th.
The motion was adopted.

Connor moved that the organization prohibit the name of Ross’ music event from containing the name of his brother, Bruce.
The motion was defeated.

Adjournment

Connor moved to adjourn the meeting.
The motion was adopted.
